PEORIA – Seven 5th grade students from Peoria Public Schools participated in a competition that tested their cooking skills. This is part of Sodexo’s Future Chef’s Challenge, where students had to cook a healthy, Mexican inspired recipe.
This initiative was made to get students thinking about making healthy food choices and to help them get creative in the kitchen.
“Science tells us that they’re little sponges when they’re young. This is a time where we really can affect those healthy habits for the future,” said Mark Streamer, General Manager for Sodexo at Peoria Public Schools.
The final dishes were presented to judges who looked at originality, taste, and the use of healthy ingredients. The winner will be considered for regional awards.
