Food Truck Festival and color run benefit VHS Project Graduation

VINELAND – Vineland High School’s Project Graduation and Rock the Roost will present a 5K/Color Run and Food Truck Festival on May 18.

Food will be served from noon to 6 p.m. at the Vineland High School South Campus, 2880 Chestnut Ave. House of Cupcakes, Rosa de Oro Mexican Food, Pirate Pete’s Soda Pop Co., Just Fork It, Frostbite Ice Cream and Mannino’s Cannoli Express are among the food trucks scheduled to participate.

Registration is in progress for the 5K Run and 1-mile fun run/walk with color. Fees are $25 through April 19 or $30 from April 20 through race day for the 5K and $12 through April 19 or $17 from April 20 through race day for the color run. Early registration includes color packet, race bib and T-shirt. Check in starts at 9 a.m., on the high school track. Race starts at 10 a.m.

Event proceeds will benefit Project Graduation, a free, all-night drug-free and alcohol-free party for seniors to celebrate their high school graduation.

YMCA seeks vendors and donors for Healthy Kids Day event

VINELAND – Cumberland Cape Atlantic YMCA will host Healthy Kids Day from noon to 2 p.m. April 27 at 1159 E. Landis Ave. This free community event promotes active play, active learning and active families.

The YMCA seeks vendors and donors to participate.

Vineland Senior Center to host writing sessions

VINELAND – Vineland Senior Center is planning to host Senior Memoir Writing sessions once per week for seniors who are interested in “sharing” their life stories. No previous writing experience is required.

A beginning date and time will be announced depending on response.

Master Gardeners sponsor trip to New York

Rutgers Master Gardeners of Cumberland County will sponsor an overnight coach tour to New York on Sept. 11 and 12. The trip, which departs from Vineland, includes New York’s Culinary Institute of America, FDR’s Hyde Park Home and Presidential Library, Eleanor Roosevelt’s Val-Kill Cottage, and the Walkway Over the Hudson. Participants will stay at the newly renovated Best Western in Kingston. Gardeners especially will enjoy a walk in FDR’s Rose Garden and Beatrix Farrand’s Walled Garden. The Culinary Institute luncheon will be held at Ristorante Caterina De’ Medici. Special diets can be accommodated if notice is given at time of registration.

Cost is $280 for double room accommodation, and $350 for single room, includes transportation, admission to sites, CIA luncheon, breakfast at hotel and gratuities.

Payment is due at booking but may be canceled until July 8. Registration ends when bus is filled.
