Fat Tuesday in Wisconsin means it’s time to get your Paczki! Here’s a short explainer what they are and why we eat them.
Lou Saldivar, Milwaukee Journal Sentinel

Fat Tuesday is March 5, and that means paczki: those yummy filled doughnuts of Polish origin typically available here only on the day before Ash Wednesday.

Depending on where you go, you can find everything from traditional flavors like prune and raspberry to rosehip, chocolate and brandy old fashioned.

Some bakeries and restaurants are still taking preorders; all take walk-ins on Fat Tuesday. Other bakeries throughout the state will also be selling pączki. Check your local bakeries and call for hours.
