He has been on the receiving end of jibes about him ‘punching above his weight’ in the looks stakes with his wife, Holly Ife, for 15 years.

Dave, 48, told hosts Sam Armytage and David Koch: ‘Only last night my six year old [Tess] said, “Dad, why is your hair so grey?”

‘And I said it’s because I’m old! I said you might get grey hair one day yourself, and she said, “I’ll dye it, dad!”

‘[I’m like] All right, good on ya. Good on ya. Well done.’

Dave and Holly are also parents to son Rafferty, 10, and Sadie, 8.

The radio star is not backward about coming forward about travails in his personal life.

Earlier this month, the comedian revealed he once lost $100,000 when he invested in a failed nightclub venture.

Speaking on Hit’s Carrie & Tommy, Dave said: ‘I once invested in a bar and my share- I’m going to be unrelatable here to some people – my share cost $100,000.’

The nightclub was in a ‘newer part of town’, which co-host Ed Kavalee described as ‘the windiest part of Australia’.

‘I was trying to leverage my profile to make the bar happen, but also I wanted to get joy out of it,’ Dave explained.

‘I don’t drink and I had a wife at the time… I invested $100,000 for my share and I sold that share for $1.’

Ed pointed out that cricketer Steve Smith invested had also invested $100,000 in another venture, Koala Mattresses, which is now worth $12.1 million.

‘That was a dagger through the heart when I read that!’ Dave jokingly said.
